POZ DADDY

Written and performed by Jamie Anderson

It’s just an age-old story: HIV positive cabaret performer inseminates single lesbian.

Part stand-up, part live music, part desperate grab for attention: Poz Daddy is an irreverent cabaret about life with HIV and becoming a dad.

Songs, audience participation, personal revelations and jokes abound as Jamie attempts to navigate dating, becoming a dad and convincing people you’re not about to die whilst still being fabulous, hilarious and very, very positive.

Cabaret performer Jamie Anderson and I worked together to structure Poz Daddy for audience participation and to play with cultural expectations of art related to HIV.

Poz Daddy was performed at The Bush Theatre (2018) and The Barbican (2019).

Jamie Anderson is a singer, comic and attention whore who was described as a “cabaret superstar” in Time Out.  Jamie has performed his blend of irreverence, camp and mischief at top London venues such as Hippodrome, Soho Theatre, Pigalle, Her Majesty’s Theatre, Shaftesbury Theatre, Hackney Empire and RVT, as well as performing in the cabaret tent at Latitude Festival.
